Battery life is what consumers care about most when buying a smartphone

REMEMBER when the old Nokia 3315 battery would last for a week and the must-have phone feature was the latest version of Snake or the coolest monophonic ringtones? Those were the days!
Now it’s all about super-screen smartphones which leave us searching for our charger before the day is done. So it’s no surprise that our phone’s battery life is our number one priority when purchasing a new device.
A recent survey conducted by IDC showed that 56 per cent of Android buyers, 49 per cent of iPhone buyers and 53 per cent of Windows phone buyers consider their phone’s battery life as the main reason they bought the phone.
Surprisingly, it trumped factors like ease of use and the quality of the camera which manufacturers have been striving to improve and promote in recent devices.
The survey also reinforces notions of brand loyalty, with more iPhone buyers listing the Apple brand as a key reason for buying the device over an Android or Windows phone.
What’s the main influence in your phone buying decision? Tell us in the comments below.
